Yoga Sutra Chanting
The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is the core text for all traditions of yoga.  It presents yoga philosophy and tools which are totally relevant to the problems we face in our daily lives.  Learn to chant the Sutras through listening and repeating (an effective practice for training the mind to focus and the ear to hear). Learn Sanskrit pronunciation as you learn to read transliteration , and enjoy the experience of chanting together with a like-minded group.  You don't need to be a singer to chant.  All levels welcome.

Introduction to Vedic Chant
Vedic Chants have their origin in the ancient Vedic Sanskrit texts, whose wisdom is surprisingly relevant to our lives today.  Because the Sanskrit sounds evoke their meaning, chanting in Sanskrit
helps us to experience the wisdom of the chants, bringing it to life through the act of giving it voice.  We will learn the chants by the time-honored process of listen and repeat.  You do not need to be a singer to gain from this and enjoy it.

Yoga for Kids--not currently being offered

Introducing postures and breathing to kids 7 - 11 years old in a playful way.  Stories, animal shapes and interaction with each other will help focus and calm the mind, while stretching and strengthening the body.  The class is 45 minutes long. $7/class, must sign up for a series.

Yoga Studies--not currently being offered
This class has a changing focus, but a constant aim: to explore in more detail various aspects of yoga, including pranayama, meditation, chanting and yoga philosophy.  For those interested in going beyond asana and discovering the other limbs of yoga.

Meditation--not currently being offered
The emphasis in this class will be on meditation, using asana, pranayama and chant to focus the mind for meditation.  The first half hour will be study and discussion and the last hour will be practice. The fourth Thursday of the month, this class will focus on chanting the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali with a lesser focus on discussion of the meaning of the Sutras chanted.
